psychology, keeping ourselves broadly informed is not
only academically beneficial, but it is a responsibility
that we must fulfill if we are to become professionally
aware and accountable. By joining OPA as a Student
Affiliate, you can increase your professional awareness
and develop a variety of new skills through:
- CONVENTIONS AND WORKSHOPS - enjoy reduced
registration fees at OPA and SOSIP events focused
on contemporary topics and issues.
- SPECIALIZED AREAS OF INTEREST - you may
join any of OPA's other sections e.g. Clinical,
Educational, Industrial/Organizational,
Independent Practice, service en Français, and
Psychoanalysis.
- A PROVINCE-WIDE PROFESSIONAL NETWORK -
meet with psychologists and graduate students
from across the province, develop educational,
personal, and employment contacts.
- OPA STANDING COMMITTEES - you have the
opportunity to become involved at the core of OPA
by being a member of a committee e.g. Ethics,
Legislation, Economics, Membership, Programs.
- POLITICAL ACTION - OPA regularly meets
with, and presents briefs to, government
ministries on behalf of the profession, and keeps
you up-to-date on legislation and regulations
affecting the work of psychologists.
- OPA BOARD OF DIRECTORS - SOSIP's President
is a member on the Board and presents issues of
concern to students and the profession to this
central OPA body.
